FC Augsburg wins final in penalty shootout against RB Salzburg! After 2 exciting and high-class days, the guests from Augsburg emerged victorious against the defending champions RB Salzburg.

In the two thrilling semifinals, RB Salzburg defeated the guests from Budapest 2-0, and FC Augsburg triumphed 3-0 against Austria Vienna. Both teams had already emerged as tournament favorites during the group stage. They both won their group convincingly and did not concede any goals in the process.

With perfect conditions and two excellent pitches, and fantastic football weather, the numerous spectators were treated to attractive and fast-paced games from the first match onwards. Already in the first group stage matches from Saturday, it was evident that RB Salzburg and FC Augsburg were the favorites to win their groups, with an exciting battle for the second-place spot for the semifinals behind them. At the end of the first day, it was very close in both groups, with 8 teams still in contention for the semifinals.

Day two started early at 08:30 am again under excellent conditions. In Group A, Red Bull Salzburg qualified as group winners, and FK Austria Vienna as runners-up for the semifinals. In Group B, FC Augsburg comfortably secured first place, followed by MTK Budapest as runners-up into the semifinals.

After the team presentations and the playing of the national anthems, the two semifinals took place in front of a well-filled grandstand. This was followed by the placement matches before the big final kicked off at 4:30 pm. The Mozart City team had more possession but failed to create clear goal-scoring opportunities. Both teams had not conceded a goal on their way to the final and largely neutralized each other. After a goalless 30 minutes, it went to a penalty shootout. After 5 shooters on both sides, it was 4-4. In the sixth round, the young bull failed to score against the goalkeeper, and after the confidently converted penalty by Augsburg, the guests from Augsburg celebrated their second victory at the tournament since 2014.

After 2 exciting and high-class days, the Bulls from Salzburg won the final against the Southern city team with a score of 2-1, claiming the title for the first time. In the two thrilling semifinals, RB Salzburg defeated the guests from Zagreb 2-0, and Admira Wacker triumphed after a goalless draw, winning 5-4 on penalties against Austria Vienna.

Already in the first group stage matches from Saturday, it became evident that there would be a very tight battle for the two semifinal tickets in each group. The perfect weather conditions and excellent pitch conditions ensured high-quality youth football from the outset. Even our regional representatives performed admirably, as the local players from FC Leonhofen managed to hold FC Ingolstadt to a 0-0 draw.

At the end of the first day, it was very close in both groups, with 8 teams still in contention for the semifinals. Day two started early at 08:30 am again under excellent conditions. In Group A, Dinamo Zagreb qualified as group winners, and Admira Wacker as runners-up for the semifinals, with third-placed Rapid Vienna missing out on the semifinals only due to a goal difference of 1.

In Group B, Austria Vienna and RB Salzburg ultimately secured their places in the semifinals with authority. After the team presentations and the playing of the national anthems, the two semifinals took place in front of a well-filled grandstand.

This was followed by the placement matches before the big final kicked off at 4:30 pm. The Bulls from Salzburg took an early lead of 1-0, but an extremely exciting game unfolded. The Austrians won a dramatic final versus Olympiacos Piräus in the penalty shoot-out, after the game finished goalless. After last year’s difficulties due to heavy rainfalls the organizers had better luck this time and everything went according to schedule.

During the first day the teams from FC Augsburg, US Region I, Olympiacos Piräus as well as the Austrian giants Rapid Wien and Austria Wien lived up their status as favourites with some great performances, although all the other teams showed their great potential. The regional teams put in a great effort.

On the second day the last games of the group stage took place and led to the four following semi-finalists: Olympiacos Piräus, FC Augsburg, Austria Wien, Rapid Wien. The Greeks retained the upper hand over FC Augsburg and progressed to the final in their first participation. In the second semi-final Austria Wien were at the better end against their city-rivals from Rapid Wien.

After a very dramatic and fascinating 30 minutes the final was still goalless and the winner had to be defined in a penalty shoot-out in which the Austrians showed better nerves and won the title.

Admira Wacker wins Austrian final at the 21st Dr. Nimmrichter Memorial Tournament!

The weather threw a spanner in the works for the organizers and turned the tournament schedule upside down. Despite adverse conditions, with the dedicated efforts of many volunteers, the tournament was successfully carried out.

In consultation with all participating teams, the group stage was concluded after just four preliminary round matches, all of which were played in a shortened format (1×15 instead of 2×12 minutes) and only on one pitch. Accordingly, the top 4 teams from both groups qualified for the quarterfinals already on Saturday.

The morning of the final Sunday was not focused on football but primarily dedicated to pitch maintenance. More than 30 helpers worked tirelessly with shovels, wet vacuums, rollers, etc., to remove as much water and mud from the field as possible.

Fortunately, the heavy rain stayed away, allowing for a competitive final. The quarterfinals, which began promptly at noon, featured three Austrian Bundesliga teams: Admira Wacker, the two traditional clubs from Vienna, FK Austria and SK Rapid Vienna, as well as Stoke City.

In the two thrilling semifinal matches, Admira Wacker and SK Rapid Vienna emerged victorious. Before the small and grand finals, the remaining places were decided. In two regional derbies, the youth joint teams Petzenkirchen against the host FC Leonhofen and NSG Loosdorf against NSG Oberndorf emerged as the eleventh and thirteenth-placed teams, respectively. In the match for fifth place, the cult club St. Pauli from Hamburg defeated the Styrian top club SK Sturm Graz. The U14 team of Bundesliga promoted side FC Ingolstadt secured 7th place against FC Red Bull Salzburg. In the match for third place, FK Austria Vienna ensured that the podium shone in red-white-red glory. Austria secured third place with a 2-0 win on penalties against the British participants Stoke City.

The all-Austrian final was a tight affair, but in the end, Admira deservedly triumphed over Rapid Vienna with a score of 1-0.

After an intense preliminary round and two thrilling semifinals, SK Rapid Vienna and FC Augsburg face off in the final.

The 20th international Dr. Nimmrichter Memorial Tournament once again featured top clubs from both international and Austrian football. Leading the field were the Italian record champions and multiple European Cup winners Juventus Turin and the 7-time German champions FC Schalke 04.

In an exciting preliminary round, Group A saw a fierce battle for the two coveted semifinal spots. Ultimately, the four-time winner Austria Vienna and FC Augsburg emerged victorious, leaving Juventus Turin and Admira Wacker behind. In Group B, Schalke 04 secured the top spot, with SK Rapid Vienna finishing second ahead of Red Bull Salzburg.

Thus, the two semifinal matchups were set. In the first game, the big Vienna derby between SK Rapid Vienna and FK Austria Vienna took place, moderated by the voice of the Austrian national team, Andy Marek.

In a thrilling and intense match, the Austrian record champions SK Rapid Vienna prevailed with a 1-0 victory, securing their spot in the final. The second semifinal was an all-German affair between FC Augsburg and Schalke 04. After a goalless game, the finalist against Rapid Vienna was determined in a penalty shootout. After a record-breaking 44 shooters, FC Augsburg emerged victorious with a score of 19-18, advancing to the grand final.

To the title melody of the UEFA Champions League, the two finalists entered the stadium before a sold-out crowd. In an exciting and intense final, FC Augsburg took a 1-0 lead after 10 minutes. The game remained balanced thereafter. In the second half, SK Rapid Vienna was the dominant team but failed to create clear scoring opportunities. FC Augsburg managed to hold on to their lead until the final whistle, and the celebrations were huge when FIFA referee Markus Hameter blew the final whistle. As part of the grand award ceremony, in addition to all participating teams, the best individual players were also honored.

Over the past weekend, the traditional Dr. Nimmrichter Memorial Tournament of FC Leonhofen took place for the 19th time, and once again, it was a resounding success! Alongside local top teams, the organizers welcomed representatives from all over Europe!

In the end, Vienna’s Austria narrowly defeated Admira in an exciting final with a score of 1-0, clinching the tournament victory!

With delightful football weather and perfect pitches, the young players showcased high-quality games right from the start. The group stage was played in 2 groups with 7 teams each, and through high-class and thrilling matches, the semifinalists were determined by Sunday noon. Eventually, the teams Austria Vienna, Admira Wacker Mödling, NAC Breda, and Hannover 96 advanced.

On Saturday evening, the traditional welcome of the teams took place in the clubhouse under the guidance of the tournament organizers. The participating teams received a gift and exchanged a few words with representatives of the communities, the club, and the participating teams.

On Sunday at noon, the traditional team parade took place, accompanied by the playing of national anthems by the brass band.

In the first semifinal, Admira and Hannover 96 faced off, and this match was a clear affair for the young players from the Southern city. The defending champions left no chance for the guests from Germany and deservedly won 2-0. The second semifinal was more thrilling. After regular time, the match between Vienna’s Austria and the Dutch representative NAC Breda ended in a 0-0 draw, leading to a penalty shootout, which the Young Violets ultimately won.

But before the grand final showdown with Admira, the placement matches took place, featuring some football highlights. For example, there was a duel between the two cult clubs Rapid Vienna and St. Pauli, as well as a clash between the young bulls from Salzburg and the Blackies from Graz. Two international duels were also on the program, with FC Rapperswil from Switzerland facing Fortuna Sittard, and in the match for third place, the teams NAC Breda and Hannover 96 facing off.

The final was firmly in Austrian hands, and for the second time in this tournament, the teams Austria Vienna and Admira Wacker Mödling faced each other. In the preliminary round, Austria celebrated a 2-0 victory over the Southern city team, and this time they narrowly prevailed again. Shortly before the end, the Young Violets scored the golden goal, and thanks to the 1-0 win, they dethroned Admira and secured the title again after 2011.

After the placement matches, the eagerly awaited final between Trenkwalder Admira and Hannover 96 followed. The two teams marched onto the field in front of a packed stands.

The two finalists showed a fast and balanced game, offering spectators everything a football match needs. After regular time, the score was 1-1, so the winner had to be determined in a penalty shootout.

In a rematch of last year’s final between FK Austria Vienna and Fortuna Sittard, the Violets once again emerged victorious in the penalty shootout.

With glorious football weather and perfect pitches, the young players, under the guidance of excellent referees, notably Bundesliga referee Harald Lechner, showcased high-quality games right from the start.

During the group stage, in Group A, FC Copenhagen emerged as the strongest team and tournament favorite with a series of victories. Behind them, there was an exciting three-way battle for the second semifinal spot, eventually secured by FK Dukla Banska Bystrica. SK Rapid Vienna settled for third place due to a poorer goal difference, relegating the Sports Academy of Doha to fourth.

In Group B, the Dutch representative Fortuna Sittard confirmed their favorite status and led the table from the start. Behind them, there was also a thrilling three-way battle for the second semifinal spot among FK Austria, Admira, and 1860 Munich. Thanks to a landslide victory in the final group stage match, Austria Vienna secured the desired semifinal spot based on a better goal difference, leaving behind Admira and 1860, who had the same number of points.

The regional teams fought bravely in matches against the professional teams, visibly motivated and joyful. The biggest surprise came from NSG Scheibbs, who secured a 1-0 victory against 1860 Munich on Saturday. The home team from Leonhofen held the first non-European representative in the tournament’s history, the Sports Academy of Doha, to a 0-0 draw, rewarding their effort.

The second semifinal brought an international duel of equals with Fortuna Sittard facing Banska Bystrica, where the Dutch prevailed in the penalty shootout after a goalless game, dispelling the notion that the Dutch cannot handle penalty shootouts.

After the placement matches, the eagerly awaited final followed. In front of a packed stands, the two teams marched onto the field to the sound of “Hells Bells” under the leadership of referee Harald Lechner. The two finalists showed a fast and balanced game, offering spectators everything a football match needs – except goals. As in the previous year, the tournament was decided by a penalty shootout for the championship. FK Austria took the lead from the first round, but the last Sittard shooter missed, giving the fifth Sittard shooter the chance to equalize. However, the young captain of the Dutch was denied by the Austria keeper. The Young Violets couldn’t contain their joy and celebrated Austria Vienna’s third tournament victory with enthusiasm.

The 16th international memorial tournament once again produced a winner from Austria’s football capital – Austria Vienna.

In the preliminary round, Vienna Austria emerged as the tournament favorite with convincing performances, but the later semifinalists from Nottingham, Wolfsburg, and Sittard also showed their class.

The regional clubs also provided a few surprises and were rewarded for their hard work. SV Gottsdorf secured a sensational draw against the German representative from Wolfsburg. The local players from FC Leonhofen fought hard for a 0-0 draw against the Admira youth academy and celebrated a well-deserved and much-celebrated 2-0 victory against Austria Salzburg in front of many spectators in the afternoon.

After the preliminary round on Sunday morning, the places for the two semifinals were also determined. First, Vienna Austria defeated VfL Wolfsburg in an exciting match with 2-1. In the second semifinal, Fortuna Sittard prevailed over the English traditional club from Nottingham with 1-0.

After the traditional playing of the anthems, the placement matches followed. Since the weather was not on the side of football this year either, the first 4 duels were decided in a penalty shootout. In the match for third place, Nottingham Forest celebrated a 3-2 victory against VfL Wolfsburg in an exciting and offensive game.

Then came the grand final – FK Austria Vienna against Fortuna Sittard. Austria Vienna could not quite match their performances, and Fortuna Sittard made it even harder for them with physical and technical play. The spectators got to see everything that belongs to a football game – except goals – so it went to a penalty shootout. In this shootout, the goalkeeper of Vienna Austria became the hero and helped the Violets to the tournament victory.

Even during the preliminary round games on Saturday, despite the bad weather, top-class football was displayed on the perfect pitches of FCL. After the final preliminary round matches on Sunday morning, the two semifinals were determined.

The big Vienna derby was a very fast-paced game at a technically high level, which Rapid won in a penalty shootout thanks to an outstanding goalkeeper. In the second semifinal, our Dutch guests from Sittard secured victory with a last-minute goal against Bayer Leverkusen.

Thus, the final was set: Rapid Vienna vs. Fortuna Sittard. In front of packed stands, spectators were treated to an exciting final. Sittard took the lead twice, but the Green-Whites managed to equalize each time, leading to a penalty shootout.

In this penalty shootout thriller, emotions ran high. Sittard’s second shooter hit the ball squarely into the top corner, and the ball bounced back out. Whether the ball actually crossed the line completely cannot be answered, but the officials ruled it as a missed attempt. The Dutch team never recovered from this shock, and Rapid did not let the victory slip away.
